Members of the Alliance join together to help enact public policy that will
strengthen America's independent oil and gas industry.
Alliance Membership Profile
With more than 3,000 members, the Texas Alliance is the largest
statewide oil and gas trade association in the nation.
The Texas Alliance of Energy Producers became a statewide organization in 2000
with the merger of two of the oldest oil and gas associations in the nation,
the North Texas Oil and Gas Association and the West Central Texas Oil and Gas Association.
The Alliance has four offices to serve the needs of its members: Abilene, Austin, Houston,
and Wichita Falls. Wichita Falls serves as the headquarters, and it is where the administrative,
membership, communications and meetings functions are carried out. The Alliance’s government
relations program is operated out of the Abilene and Austin offices.
The Houston office serves the Alliance in membership recruitment.
The members of the Alliance are the decision-makers in the oil and gas industry. For example,
47% say they are the owner of their company, 13% said they were co-owners and 15% said they were the CEO.
Most (81%) said they were over 50 years of age and 52% said they had been in
business more than 30 years. Another 29% said they had been in business 21 to 30 years.
The members are well educated. Sixty-five percent said they have a bachelors degree
and 21% said they have a masters degree and 5% said they have another advanced degree.
Three-out-of-four members are in the exploration & production side of the business.
The remaining 25% is made up of drilling and well servicing contractors, service and
supply companies, crude oil and natural gas purchasers, accountants, lawyers and bankers.
Two-thirds of the members said they have 10 or less employees, while 5% said they
had more than 100 employees.
The members of the Alliance are active in the oil and gas business throughout t
he State of Texas and beyond. Eighty-three percent said they have operations in
South Texas (Railroad Commission Districts 1 – 4), 35% in East Texas (RRC Districts 5 & 6),
73% in North Texas (RRC District 9), 92% in West Texas. Additionally, Alliance members said they
operate in Oklahoma (44%), New Mexico (32%), Louisiana (27%) and other states (53%). |
